Billy – Home Ed: Mr L really helped me with my Functional Skills maths. He carefully worked through lots of examples and different techniques that would help me towards passing my Level 2, City and Guilds course.
Ava – Year 6: I like how Mr L teaches. He makes maths fun. And when I’m not sure about something, he takes the time to explain it, sometimes in different ways until I get it.
Lyndon – Years 5 & 6: My son used Mr L’s tutoring services for two terms, both in English and Maths. He achieved higher results than expected in both of these subjects but he also gained confidence and passion for them at the same time which is solely down to Mr L’s teaching techniques, patience and kindness. He even looked forward to the tutoring each week and enjoyed the hour in a one to one setting where he could really understand, practise and improve without pressure, stress and judgement. I would highly recommend Mr L to anyone looking for a personal tutor for their son or daughter.
James – Years 5 & 6: Fabulous tutor – would highly recommend.
Bo-Lily – Year 5: Our Daughter has always ‘struggled’ with mathematics. This became more evident during year 5, and, as parents, we were saddened to see her confidence decrease as her ‘grasp’ of the subject deteriorated, despite additional maths support from her school, my Husband and I deliberated for a long time about paying for private tuition, however, Mr L has been a game changer! His process of identifying learning gaps combined with his encouraging style of teaching, positively reinforces learning: our Daughter no longer dreads her maths classes, and her confidence and increased understanding of the subject is reflected in her improved grades. That said, for her, mathematics will probably always be a struggle, therefore, the measure of ‘success’ of private tuition is not based exclusively on her improved mathematical ability, but more about the positive impact Mr L’s support has had on her mental wellbeing and attitude to learning overall which is fantastic to see (and which has continued to support her during the transition into secondary school) I can honestly say that I wished we had sought private tuition sooner. We moved house last year and have yet to find another Mr L! Mores the pity! I cannot recommend him enough!
Harry – Years 1 & 2: Mr L has been tutoring our son in English and Maths for 2 years. From the outset we saw an almost immediate improvement in his grasp of these subjects and, very importantly, this improved his confidence and contributions in the classroom. Mr L takes time to understand what areas are important to focus on and fully explains the approach he takes which is always in line with and complementary to the learning techniques and syllabus of the age group our son has been in. He has built a very good relationship with our son through endless patience and we feel he genuinely cares about his academic development and growth.
Harry – Years 3 & 4: Mr L helped my son with extra Maths support – he was calm, engaging and made my son feel relaxed and excited to learn.
Bea – Year 4: Mr L started teaching our daughter in 2019 and developed a strong, patient and caring relationship with her from the start. He had fantastic knowledge of her needs and worked in conjunction with the current curriculum to aid her learning. His techniques were engaging whilst fun and meant she had the one to one teaching she required.
Jake – Year 6: Mr L has been teaching our son for a couple of years now after school with his English and his Maths, our son has found Mr L very kind and patient as he used to struggle a bit with these topics until he found that the extra time spent with Mr L very helpful, and this has shown a positive improvement not just at home but also in his school work. We will continue to ask for Mr L’s help until we feel our son no longer needs him .
